1967 Seiko 5740-8000 Manual Wind Lord Marvel 36000 Hi-Beat
1967 Seiko 5740-8000 Manual Wind Lord Marvel 36000 Hi-Beat
Understated. Minimalist. Austere.... Seiko's Lord Marvel is a testimony to simplicity and elegance. Crisp lines and beautifully beveled and tapered lugs give the case a classically designed platform from which to showcase a combination of dial and movement that refuses to go unnoticed. The dial is a silver sunburst beneath a glossy lacquer finish with applied baguette markers finished in black. Above the "Suwa" symbol in a clean, upright print are the “Lord Marvel" branding and 36000 bph designation. The sword hands are polished, tapered to a fine point, and finished with a thin black stripe. As indicated it houses Seiko's 5740C, a high beat "marvel" of a beautifully finished and serialized movement. It is manually wound by the oversized crown and hums along at 10 beats per second making the slender and reaching sweep appear to glide along the minute track. Post service, it’s keeping near perfect time and is completely original aside from a replacement crystal. This piece is pure mid-century class on the wrist and is bound to catch more than a few second looks. Paired with an oiled Sienna suede leather with khaki stitching for a casual and versatile fit and finish, it’s bound to be a front runner in any rotation.
