For vintage Seiko fans, it doesn't get any more iconic than the "Pogue." After purchasing his own 6139 at an exchange on base, Col. William Pogue trained for 6 months with his trusty new companion strapped to his wrist. It proved a trustworthy and reliable tool throughout rigorous simulations, and so was taken along side his NASA issued Omega Speedmaster Pro when he began his actual mission aboard Skylab. Today, “Pogue” is a catch all term used to describe any of the dozen or so variants within the 6139-60XX family, but for collectors, one stands out as the true “Pogue.” The very model that the Colonel himself wore during simulations and subsequently into orbit: A yellow “Resist” dial 6139-6002. His personal Seiko was sold at auction several years ago to one very fortunate new owner. This example from June of ‘71 is close as it gets to the original... Albeit, in much better condition. The deep, golden yellow dial is free of blemishes, and the original luminous material on the hands and markers shows no degradation in color. The rotating inner bezel is a vivid yellow, and the tachymetric bezel is nearly perfect in a rich metallic red and blue. The case is unpolished showing only light wear, and the original finishes are still intact. Attached to the original and correct, non-tapered "H" link bracelet, it is complete, and an amazing addition to any collection, Seiko or otherwise!
