1973 Seiko 7006-6039 Automatic “31 Day Calendar”

1973 Seiko 7006-6039 Automatic “31 Day Calendar”

Blending artistry with practicality, this versatile Daini variant brings something a little extra to the wrist. The dial is a deep metallic blue with a soft sunburst that’s been finished in a bi-color “days of the week” motif. The minute track travels through the applied markers, and is an eye catching bright baby blue. Framing the dial is a black rotating inner bezel marked out so as to display the possible 31 days in each month. By rotating it to align the first day of the month to its corresponding day of the week, its quick and easy to determine on which day any other date within that month will fall. Not only is this feature quite useful, it also makes for one of the most attractive dial layouts in Seiko history. The case is a slim tonneau shape with hooded lugs and a flat bezel that easily slides beneath a shirt cuff. It features two crowns, one at three o’clock for time and date setting, and a second larger one at the two o’clock position for rotating the date ring. The case back has a fair amount of marring from careless handling of a case wrench, but the rest is in good, unpolished condition. Attached is the original tapered “H” link bracelet, but it goes without saying that this one transitions beautifully onto a nicely appointed strap as well.
