We remain on the lookout for interesting vintage affordables that bring character and color to the wrist, and once again, Seiko’s Daini division has delivered in spades. This 7006-8029 from April of ‘71 is bound to be a bright spot on any roster. The “sandwich” dial features a magenta sunburst back with a glossy lacquer finish. It’s topped with a wide frame in two shades of satin silver finished with black Roman numerals and minute hashes. A shared day/date window opens at the three o’clock position, and polished, striped batons count the hours and minutes. The acrylic crystal is pressure set into a bezel-less barrel tonneau case with sloping contours and an “east to west” brushed finish. At 39mm, its got plenty of presence, without sacrificing comfort on the wrist. It’s unpolished and all original aside from a replacement crystal, and we’ve paired it with a chocolate brown leather with black stitching to accentuate the colors on the dial. Post service, the 7006 is keeping near perfect time, and is protected by a screw down case back and recessed crown. If bold and unique meet your requirements, this one is sure to be a fast favorite.
