1969 Seiko 6117-8000 Navigator Timer (Proof)

1969 Seiko 6117-8000 Navigator Timer (Proof)

$0.00

Seiko’s first iteration of a GMT pilot’s watch, the 6117-8000 has become as sought after as it has impossible to find. A monochromatic masterpiece, it features a charcoal gray sunburst dial with a glossy lacquer finish, a seamless chapter ring with minute hashes and large luminous plots at the hours, and a wide coin edged bezel with a clean 24 hour insert. It’s minimal and understated, and that’s exactly what makes it the perfect tool watch. This example from October of ‘69 is an is a killer, all original example that’s bound to be a highlight in any collection. The luminous material on the chapter ring, and in the large polished batons has developed an even khaki patina. The red GMT hand, though showing some loss of color, still jumps right off of the deep charcoal dial, and the bezel insert, though showing only slight physical wear, has gone completely ghost, leaving only the shadow of its 24 hour indication. The case is crisp and unpolished with all factory finishes still intact, and it’s attached to the original oyster style three link bracelet. Though it looks fantastic on the bracelet, we’d recommend pairing it with rich brown leather pilot strap with a distressed or vintage style. Either way, this is a must have for any true Seiko fan, and not likely to be available long!
