1976 Seiko 6139-7070 Automatic Chronograph “Speedy”
1976 Seiko 6139-7070 Automatic Chronograph “Speedy”
With it’s deep matte blue, tri-level dial the 7070 is easily one of the most versatile styles in the 6139 line up. The case is finished in an “east to west” brush that’s paired with a finely polished conical bezel. In contrast to the rich, dark dial, the hands and markers stand out in a crisp bright white. Framing the dial is a perfectly matched tachymetric chapter that’s angled upward toward the bezel that provides even more depth. Atop it all sits a beveled hardlex that flows seamlessly into the bezel. This example from February of ‘76 is a fantastic example. The case is in near mint condition showing almost no wear aside from light scratches to the case back. The dial shows a few light marks between the 11 and 1 o’clock markers that are only visible at a particular angle, and do not penetrate beyond the surface. The crystal is a NOS hardlex replacement free of marring or scratches. The hands and markers are nearly perfect showing almost no sign of their more than 40 years of age. Attached is the original bracelet with a triple hinged design between the links. It was just a bit short, so we’ve fitted it with a flexible clasp extension to ensure a comfortable fit for most wrist sizes. The 6139B is keeping near perfect time post service, and the chronograph functions are crisp and responsive. Overall, its a beautiful example that’s sure to be a favorite in any collection.
